Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
scsi: qla2xxx: Fix crash due to stale SRB access around I/O timeouts
Ensure SRB is returned during I/O timeout error escalation. If that is not
possible fail the escalation path.
Following crash stack was seen:

AI Powered Q&A
Can you explain this vulnerability to me?
This vulnerability is a flaw in the Linux kernel's qla2xxx SCSI driver where a crash occurs due to accessing a stale SRB (SCSI Request Block) during I/O timeout error handling. The issue arises because the SRB is not properly returned or handled during the escalation of I/O timeout errors, leading to a kernel crash.
How can this vulnerability impact me? :
This vulnerability can cause the Linux kernel to crash when the qla2xxx driver encounters I/O timeout errors, potentially leading to system instability, downtime, or data access interruptions.
