What immediate steps should I take to mitigate this vulnerability?

There are no workarounds to disable the vulnerable GUI option. The recommended immediate step is to upgrade Versa Director to one of the remediated software versions provided by Versa Networks.

Can you explain this vulnerability to me?

This vulnerability exists in the Versa Director SD-WAN orchestration platform, where the customization inputs for the user interface elements such as the header, footer, and logo are not properly validated or sanitized. This allows a malicious user to inject and store cross-site scripting (XSS) payloads, which can be executed when other users view the customized interface.

How can this vulnerability impact me? :

The vulnerability can lead to cross-site scripting attacks, which may allow an attacker to execute malicious scripts in the context of the affected application. This can result in the theft of sensitive information, session hijacking, or other malicious actions that compromise the confidentiality and integrity of user data. The CVSS score indicates a high impact on confidentiality and integrity but no impact on availability.
