AI Powered Q&A
Can you explain this vulnerability to me?
This vulnerability in the Versa Director SD-WAN orchestration platform allows an authenticated attacker to upload files despite the UI appearing to block uploads. Specifically, the platform does not properly restrict file upload permissions, enabling the attacker to upload a webshell by exploiting insecure UCPE image upload functionality. Additionally, the platform discloses the full filename of uploaded temporary files, including a UUID prefix.
How can this vulnerability impact me? :
An attacker who successfully exploits this vulnerability can upload a webshell, which may allow them to execute arbitrary code on the system. This can lead to full compromise of the affected platform, resulting in confidentiality, integrity, and availability impacts as indicated by the CVSS score (C:H/I:H/A:H).
What immediate steps should I take to mitigate this vulnerability?
There are no workarounds to disable the GUI option. Versa recommends upgrading the Versa Director SD-WAN orchestration platform to one of the remediated software versions to mitigate this vulnerability.
