Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: soc: aspeed: Add NULL check in aspeed_lpc_enable_snoop() devm_kasprintf() returns NULL when memory allocation fails. Currently, aspeed_lpc_enable_snoop() does not check for this case, which results in a NULL pointer dereference. Add NULL check after devm_kasprintf() to prevent this issue. AI Powered Q&A
Can you explain this vulnerability to me?

This vulnerability occurs in the Linux kernel's aspeed driver where the function aspeed_lpc_enable_snoop() calls devm_kasprintf() to allocate memory but does not check if the allocation fails and returns NULL. This lack of NULL pointer check can lead to a NULL pointer dereference, which may cause the kernel to crash or behave unexpectedly.

How can this vulnerability impact me? :

If exploited or triggered, this vulnerability can cause a NULL pointer dereference in the Linux kernel, potentially leading to a system crash or denial of service, affecting system stability and availability.
