AI Powered Q&A
Can you explain this vulnerability to me?
This vulnerability is a stack-based buffer overflow in FTPPad version 1.2.0 and earlier. It occurs in the FTP directory listing parser when the client receives a specially crafted response to a LIST command containing an excessively long directory and filename. The application does not properly validate the input length, causing a buffer overflow that overwrites the saved Extended Instruction Pointer (EIP). This allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on the affected system.
How can this vulnerability impact me? :
This vulnerability can allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on your system by exploiting the buffer overflow in FTPPad's directory listing parser. This could lead to unauthorized control over your system, potentially resulting in data theft, system compromise, or further attacks.
