Description
A vulnerability in the web-based management interface of Cisco UCS Manager Software could allow an authenticated, remote attacker to conduct a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) attack against a user of the interface. This vulnerability is due to insufficient validation of user-supplied input by the web-based management interface of an affected system. An attacker could exploit this vulnerability by injecting malicious data into specific pages of the interface. A successful exploit could allow the attacker to execute arbitrary script code in the context of the affected interface or access sensitive, browser-based information. To exploit this vulnerability, the attacker must be a member of the Administrator or AAA Administrator role.

AI Powered Q&A
Can you explain this vulnerability to me?

This vulnerability is a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) issue in the web-based management interface of Cisco UCS Manager Software. It occurs because the interface does not properly validate user-supplied input, allowing an authenticated attacker with Administrator or AAA Administrator roles to inject malicious scripts into specific pages. These scripts can then execute in the context of the interface, potentially accessing sensitive browser-based information.

How can this vulnerability impact me? :

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary script code within the management interface, which may lead to unauthorized access to sensitive information displayed in the browser. This could compromise the security of the management system and potentially allow further attacks or unauthorized actions within the interface.

What immediate steps should I take to mitigate this vulnerability?

To mitigate this vulnerability, ensure that only trusted users with Administrator or AAA Administrator roles have access to the Cisco UCS Manager web-based interface. Limit user privileges to reduce risk. Additionally, monitor for and apply any security updates or patches released by Cisco for UCS Manager Software as soon as they become available.
