Description
Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
fs/ntfs3: Add null pointer check to attr_load_runs_vcn
Some metadata files are handled before MFT. This adds a null pointer
check for some corner cases that could lead to NPD while reading these
metadata files for a malformed NTFS image.

AI Powered Q&A
Can you explain this vulnerability to me?
This vulnerability in the Linux kernel's NTFS3 file system driver involves a missing null pointer check in the function attr_load_runs_vcn. This can lead to a null pointer dereference (NPD) when reading certain malformed NTFS metadata files, causing the kernel to crash or behave unexpectedly.
How can this vulnerability impact me? :
The vulnerability can cause the Linux kernel to crash due to a null pointer dereference when mounting or reading malformed NTFS file system images. This can lead to denial of service (system instability or crashes) on affected systems.
