Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: usb: dwc3: qcom: Fix potential memory leak Function dwc3_qcom_probe() allocates memory for resource structure which is pointed by parent_res pointer. This memory is not freed. This leads to memory leak. Use stack memory to prevent memory leak. Found by Linux Verification Center (linuxtesting.org) with SVACE.

AI Powered Q&A
Can you explain this vulnerability to me?

This vulnerability is a memory leak in the Linux kernel's USB driver for Qualcomm hardware (dwc3_qcom). Specifically, the function dwc3_qcom_probe() allocates memory for a resource structure pointed to by parent_res, but this memory is not freed, causing a memory leak. The fix involves using stack memory instead of heap allocation to prevent the leak.

How can this vulnerability impact me? :

The memory leak caused by this vulnerability can lead to increased memory usage over time, potentially degrading system performance or causing instability if the leaked memory accumulates significantly.

What immediate steps should I take to mitigate this vulnerability?

To mitigate this vulnerability, update your Linux kernel to a version where the memory leak in the dwc3_qcom_probe() function has been fixed. This fix involves using stack memory instead of heap memory to prevent the leak. Applying the latest kernel patches or updates from your Linux distribution is recommended.
