Description
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
test_firmware: fix memory leak in test_firmware_init()
When misc_register() failed in test_firmware_init(), the memory pointed
by test_fw_config->name is not released. The memory leak information is
as follows:
unreferenced object 0xffff88810a34cb00 (size 32):

AI Powered Q&A
Can you explain this vulnerability to me?
This vulnerability is a memory leak in the Linux kernel's test_firmware component. Specifically, when the function misc_register() fails during the initialization in test_firmware_init(), the memory allocated for test_fw_config->name is not properly released, causing a memory leak.
How can this vulnerability impact me? :
The memory leak can lead to inefficient memory usage and potentially degrade system performance over time. If the leak is exploited or occurs repeatedly, it could cause resource exhaustion, leading to system instability or crashes.
