Publication date: 2025-11-11

Last updated on: 2025-11-26

Assigner: Intel Corporation

Description
Out-of-bounds write for some Intel(R) QAT Windows software before version 2.6.0. within Ring 3: User Applications may allow an escalation of privilege. System software adversary with an authenticated user combined with a high complexity attack may enable escalation of privilege. This result may potentially occur via local access when attack requirements are not present without special internal knowledge and requires no user interaction. The potential vulnerability may impact the confidentiality (high), integrity (high) and availability (high) of the vulnerable system, resulting in subsequent system confidentiality (none), integrity (none) and availability (none) impacts.

Can you explain this vulnerability to me?

This vulnerability is an out-of-bounds write issue in some Intel(R) QAT Windows software versions before 2.6.0. It occurs within Ring 3 (user applications) and may allow an authenticated user with local access and high attack complexity to escalate their privileges on the system. It does not require user interaction and may need special internal knowledge to exploit.

How can this vulnerability impact me? :

The vulnerability can lead to escalation of privilege, potentially impacting the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the vulnerable system at a high level. This means an attacker could gain unauthorized access or control, compromising system security and stability.
