AI Powered Q&A
Can you explain this vulnerability to me?
This vulnerability is a memory leak in the Linux kernel's amd_pmc_stb_debugfs_open_v2() function related to the platform/x86/amd code. Specifically, when the amd_pmc_send_cmd() function fails, the buffer ('buf') that was allocated is not properly released, causing a memory leak when the STB debug mechanism is enabled.
How can this vulnerability impact me? :
The memory leak caused by this vulnerability can lead to increased memory usage over time, potentially degrading system performance or causing instability if the leaked memory accumulates significantly.
