CWE ID Description
CWE-119 The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it reads from or writes to a memory location outside the buffer's intended boundary. This may result in read or write operations on unexpected memory locations that could be linked to other variables, data structures, or internal program data.
CWE-787 The product writes data past the end, or before the beginning, of the intended buffer.
CWE-121 A stack-based buffer overflow condition is a condition where the buffer being overwritten is allocated on the stack (i.e., is a local variable or, rarely, a parameter to a function).

AI Powered Q&A
What immediate steps should I take to mitigate this vulnerability?

Since no patches or vendor mitigations are available and the vulnerability can be exploited remotely without authentication, the recommended immediate step is to replace the affected Linksys range extender devices with alternative products that are not vulnerable. [2]

Can you explain this vulnerability to me?

This vulnerability is a stack-based buffer overflow in the function AP_get_wireless_clientlist_setClientsName of the file mod_form.so in certain Linksys router models. It occurs when the argument clientsname_0 is manipulated, allowing an attacker to remotely exploit the overflow.

How can this vulnerability impact me? :

Exploiting this vulnerability can lead to severe impacts such as remote code execution or denial of service on affected Linksys routers. This can compromise the security and availability of the network devices.
