Description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: io_uring: fix regbuf vector size truncation There is a report of io_estimate_bvec_size() truncating the calculated number of segments that leads to corruption issues. Check it doesn't overflow "int"s used later. Rough but simple, can be improved on top.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability involves the Linux kernel's io_uring subsystem, where the function io_estimate_bvec_size() incorrectly truncates the calculated number of segments. This truncation can lead to corruption issues because it may cause an overflow in the integer values used later in the process.

Impact Analysis

The vulnerability can lead to data corruption within the Linux kernel's io_uring subsystem, potentially affecting system stability and data integrity when using io_uring for asynchronous I/O operations.
