Description
Grav is a file-based Web platform. Prior to 1.8.0-beta.27, a Server-Side Template Injection (SSTI) vulnerability exists in Grav that allows authenticated attackers with editor permissions to execute arbitrary commands on the server and, under certain conditions, may also be exploited by unauthenticated attackers. This vulnerability stems from weak regex validation in the cleanDangerousTwig method. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.8.0-beta.27.

AI Powered Q&A
Can you explain this vulnerability to me?

This vulnerability is a Server-Side Template Injection (SSTI) in the Grav web platform before version 1.8.0-beta.27. It allows authenticated users with editor permissions to execute arbitrary commands on the server. Under certain conditions, unauthenticated attackers may also exploit it. The root cause is weak regex validation in the cleanDangerousTwig method.

How can this vulnerability impact me? :

The vulnerability can allow attackers to execute arbitrary commands on the server, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data compromise, or disruption of services. This can result in loss of data integrity, confidentiality, and availability of the affected system.

What immediate steps should I take to mitigate this vulnerability?

Upgrade Grav to version 1.8.0-beta.27 or later, as this version contains the fix for the Server-Side Template Injection vulnerability. Additionally, restrict editor permissions to trusted users only to reduce risk until the upgrade is applied.
