Executive Summary

This vulnerability occurs when the functions getnetbyaddr or getnetbyaddr_r are called with a configured nsswitch.conf that uses the DNS backend for networks. If a query is made for a zero-valued network in GNU C Library versions 2.0 to 2.42, it can cause stack contents to be leaked to the DNS resolver.

Impact Analysis

The vulnerability can lead to unintended disclosure of stack memory contents to an external DNS resolver, potentially exposing sensitive information from the process memory.
