Exploitability
| CWE ID | Description |
|---|---|
| CWE-89 | The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data. |

Can you explain this vulnerability to me?
This vulnerability is a SQL Injection issue found in the Advanced Popup Creator module for PrestaShop versions 1.1.26 through 1.2.6. It allows remote attackers who are not authenticated to execute arbitrary SQL queries by manipulating the fromController parameter in the popup controller. The parameter is not properly sanitized before being used in SQL queries within the getPopups() and updateVisits() functions in the AdvancedPopup.php file.
How can this vulnerability impact me? :
This vulnerability can allow attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands on the affected system remotely without authentication. This could lead to unauthorized data access, data modification, or deletion, potentially compromising the integrity and confidentiality of the database. It may also allow attackers to escalate privileges or disrupt the normal operation of the application.
