What immediate steps should I take to mitigate this vulnerability?

I don't know

Can you explain this vulnerability to me?

This vulnerability exists in GFI MailEssentials AI versions prior to 22.4 and is a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) issue. An authenticated user can inject HTML or JavaScript code into the Keyword Filtering rule creation workflow by supplying malicious input in the ctl00$ContentPlaceHolder1$pv1$TXB_RuleName parameter on the contentchecking.aspx page. This malicious code is then stored and later executed in the context of a logged-in user's management interface, potentially allowing unauthorized script execution.

How can this vulnerability impact me? :

The impact of this vulnerability is that an attacker with authenticated access can execute arbitrary scripts within the management interface of GFI MailEssentials AI. This can lead to unauthorized actions being performed on behalf of the logged-in user, such as stealing session tokens, manipulating the interface, or performing other malicious activities within the scope of the user's permissions.

How does this vulnerability affect compliance with common standards and regulations (like GDPR, HIPAA)?:

I don't know
