SQL Injection in view.html.php via UpdateParam Function

Publication date: 2026-05-27

Last updated on: 2026-05-27

Assigner: CERT VDE

Description
A high privileged remote attacker can exploit an unauthenticated SQL Injection vulnerability in the view.html.php files UpdateParam function due to improper neutralization of special elements in a SQL UPDATE command allowing for reading the whole database and changing values in a non critical table. This can result in a total loss of confidentiality and some loss of integrity.

CWE ID Description
CWE-89 The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. Without sufficient removal or quoting of SQL syntax in user-controllable inputs, the generated SQL query can cause those inputs to be interpreted as SQL instead of ordinary user data.

AI Powered Q&A
How does this vulnerability affect compliance with common standards and regulations (like GDPR, HIPAA)?:

This vulnerability allows a high privileged remote attacker to exploit an unauthenticated SQL Injection, resulting in a total loss of confidentiality and some loss of integrity of the database. Such a loss of confidentiality and integrity can negatively impact compliance with common standards and regulations like GDPR and HIPAA, which require protection of sensitive data and maintaining data integrity.

Can you explain this vulnerability to me?

This vulnerability is an unauthenticated SQL Injection in the UpdateParam function within the view.html.php files. It occurs because special elements in a SQL UPDATE command are not properly neutralized, allowing a high privileged remote attacker to exploit it.

Through this exploit, the attacker can read the entire database and modify values in a non-critical table.

How can this vulnerability impact me? :

The impact of this vulnerability includes a total loss of confidentiality, meaning sensitive data in the database can be fully exposed to the attacker.

Additionally, there is some loss of integrity because the attacker can change values in a non-critical table, potentially affecting data accuracy or behavior.
