Executive Summary

CVE-2026-13449 is an XML External Entity (XXE) injection vulnerability found in IBM Business Automation Manager Open Editions versions 9.0.0 through 9.4.2.

This vulnerability occurs because the software improperly restricts XML external entity references when processing XML data.

A remote attacker can exploit this flaw by sending crafted XML data to the system, which can lead to exposure of sensitive information or excessive consumption of memory resources.

Impact Analysis

Exploitation of this vulnerability can impact confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the affected system.

  • Exposure of sensitive information due to improper handling of XML external entities.
  • Consumption of excessive memory resources, which can degrade system performance or cause denial of service.
Mitigation Strategies

The vulnerability in IBM Business Automation Manager Open Editions versions 9.0.0 through 9.4.2 can be mitigated by updating the software to version 9.5.0, where the issue has been addressed.

No official workarounds are currently available, so applying the update is the recommended immediate step.

Compliance Impact

The vulnerability allows a remote attacker to expose sensitive information due to an XML external entity injection (XXE) flaw. This exposure of sensitive data could potentially lead to non-compliance with data protection regulations such as GDPR and HIPAA, which require the protection of confidential information.

Since the vulnerability impacts confidentiality, integrity, and availability, it poses a risk to meeting the security requirements mandated by these common standards and regulations.

IBM has addressed the issue in version 9.5.0, and users are advised to update to mitigate the risk and help maintain compliance.
