Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a Stack-based Buffer Overflow found in Adobe InCopy versions 21.3, 20.5.3, and earlier. It occurs when a specially crafted malicious file is opened by a user, which can cause the program to overwrite parts of memory on the stack.

Exploitation of this vulnerability requires user interaction, meaning the victim must open a malicious file for the attack to succeed.

If successfully exploited, it could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the current user.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability can have serious impacts including the potential for an attacker to execute arbitrary code on your system.

Since the code execution happens in the context of the current user, the attacker could gain the same level of access as that user, which might include access to sensitive data or the ability to install malware.

However, exploitation requires that the user opens a malicious file, so user caution and awareness are important mitigating factors.
