Executive Summary

This vulnerability exists in the Oracle Fusion Middleware WebLogic Server product, specifically affecting versions 14.1.2.0.0 and 15.1.1.0.0. It is an easily exploitable flaw that allows a low privileged attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise the WebLogic Server.

The vulnerability can lead to a complete takeover of the WebLogic Server, and because of the scope change, it may also significantly impact additional products that rely on WebLogic Server.

Impact Analysis

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can result in an attacker taking over the WebLogic Server, which means they could gain full control over the server.

  • Confidentiality impact: attacker can access sensitive data.
  • Integrity impact: attacker can modify or corrupt data.
  • Availability impact: attacker can disrupt or deny service.
Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows a low privileged attacker with network access to compromise WebLogic Server, potentially resulting in a full takeover of the server. Given the high impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CVSS score 9.9), successful exploitation could lead to unauthorized access to sensitive data and disruption of services.

Such a compromise could negatively affect compliance with common standards and regulations like GDPR and HIPAA, which require protection of personal and sensitive data, ensuring data integrity and availability. A takeover of the server could lead to data breaches or loss of control over protected information, thereby violating these regulatory requirements.
