Compliance Impact

This vulnerability in Oracle WebLogic Server allows an unauthenticated attacker to potentially take over the server, impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability of data.

Such a compromise could lead to unauthorized access or alteration of sensitive information, which may affect compliance with data protection regulations like GDPR and HIPAA that require safeguarding personal and health information.

However, specific impacts on compliance depend on the context of the deployment and the data handled by the affected WebLogic Server instance.

This vulnerability exists in the WebLogic Server product of Oracle Fusion Middleware, specifically in the Console component. It affects supported versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.1.0.0. The vulnerability is difficult to exploit but allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise the WebLogic Server. Successful exploitation requires human interaction from someone other than the attacker. Although the vulnerability is in WebLogic Server, attacks may impact additional products due to scope change.

If successfully exploited, the attacker can take over the WebLogic Server, impacting confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Impact Analysis

Successful exploitation of this vulnerability can lead to a complete takeover of the WebLogic Server. This means an attacker could gain unauthorized access, potentially leading to loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the server and its data.

Because the vulnerability requires network access and some user interaction, it could be used to compromise systems remotely, affecting business operations and security.
