The issue affects versions of Frappe prior to 15.106.0 and has been fixed in version 15.106.0.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability can impact users by allowing attackers to execute malicious scripts in their browsers when they view compromised user profile images. Such scripts could potentially steal sensitive information, hijack user sessions, or perform actions on behalf of the user without their consent.

Since the vulnerability is stored XSS, the malicious code persists and affects multiple users, increasing the risk and impact.

Users of affected versions are advised to upgrade to version 15.106.0 or later to mitigate this risk, as no workarounds are available.

Detection Guidance

There are no specific detection commands or methods provided to identify this stored XSS vulnerability in the Frappe Framework user profile image section.

Since the vulnerability involves malicious scripts stored in user profile images, detection would typically require manual inspection or scanning of user profile image data for suspicious script content.

Mitigation Strategies

The primary mitigation step is to upgrade the Frappe Framework to version 15.106.0 or later, where this stored XSS vulnerability has been patched.

There are no available workarounds for this vulnerability, so upgrading is the only effective immediate action.

Compliance Impact

The provided information does not specify how the stored XSS vulnerability in the Frappe Framework affects compliance with common standards and regulations such as GDPR or HIPAA.
