Executive Summary

This vulnerability exists in the Oracle VM VirtualBox product, specifically in the VMSVGA device component. It affects version 7.2.8 and can be exploited by a highly privileged attacker who has logged on to the infrastructure where Oracle VM VirtualBox is running. The attacker can compromise Oracle VM VirtualBox, potentially impacting other related products as well. The main consequence of a successful attack is unauthorized read access to some data accessible by Oracle VM VirtualBox.

Impact Analysis

The vulnerability can allow a high privileged attacker to gain unauthorized read access to certain data within Oracle VM VirtualBox. This means sensitive or confidential information could be exposed without authorization. Although the impact is limited to confidentiality and does not affect integrity or availability, it could still lead to data leakage or exposure of sensitive information within the affected environment.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows a high privileged attacker with logon access to compromise Oracle VM VirtualBox and gain unauthorized read access to some data accessible by Oracle VM VirtualBox.

Such unauthorized data access could potentially impact compliance with data protection regulations like GDPR or HIPAA, which require strict controls on unauthorized access to sensitive data.

However, the CVE description does not explicitly mention any direct effects or assessments related to compliance with these standards.
