Executive Summary

This vulnerability affects Substance3D - Sampler versions 6.0.0 and earlier. It is an out-of-bounds write vulnerability, which means the software writes data outside the boundaries of allocated memory. This flaw could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code with the privileges of the current user. However, exploitation requires user interaction, specifically that the victim opens a malicious file.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow an attacker to run arbitrary code on your system with your user privileges. This could lead to unauthorized actions such as installing malware, stealing data, or modifying files. Since the attack requires you to open a malicious file, the risk depends on your interaction with untrusted files.

Mitigation Strategies

To mitigate this vulnerability, avoid opening malicious files with Substance3D - Sampler versions 6.0.0 and earlier, as exploitation requires user interaction through opening a malicious file.

Consider updating to a version later than 6.0.0 if available, or applying any patches provided by Adobe to address this out-of-bounds write vulnerability.
