Executive Summary

This vulnerability exists in OpenClaw versions before 2026.5.6 and involves an authorization bypass in Telegram interactive callbacks. Authenticated users can exploit this flaw to bypass the commands.allowFrom validation, which normally restricts who can invoke certain commands. By doing so, attackers can mark themselves as authorized senders before the allowlist checks are applied, allowing them to trigger command behavior that should be restricted based on Telegram sender permissions.

Impact Analysis

The impact of this vulnerability is that an attacker with authenticated access can bypass sender restrictions in Telegram callbacks, potentially executing commands that they should not be authorized to run. This could lead to unauthorized actions within the system, compromising its integrity and security.

Compliance Impact

The provided information does not specify any direct impact of this vulnerability on compliance with common standards and regulations such as GDPR or HIPAA.

Mitigation Strategies

To mitigate the CVE-2026-53807 vulnerability in OpenClaw before version 2026.5.6, you should:

  • Restrict Telegram command callbacks to trusted chats until the patch is applied.
  • Keep allowlists narrow to limit authorized senders.
  • Avoid sharing Gateways between untrusted users.
  • Disable the affected Telegram interactive callback feature if it is not necessary.

Additionally, upgrading OpenClaw to version 2026.5.6 or later will patch this vulnerability.
