Compliance Impact

CVE-2026-5416 allows a low-privileged remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands on TURCK's Managed Ethernet Switches, leading to full system compromise. This impacts the availability, integrity, and confidentiality of the system.

Such a compromise can affect compliance with common standards and regulations like GDPR and HIPAA, which require protection of data confidentiality, integrity, and availability. A successful exploitation could lead to unauthorized access or disruption of sensitive data, thereby violating these regulatory requirements.

Mitigation by updating to firmware version 2.1.2.0 or later is recommended to reduce the risk and help maintain compliance.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-5416 is an OS command injection vulnerability found in TURCK's Managed Ethernet Switches with firmware versions prior to 2.1.2.0.

The vulnerability occurs because special elements in a name parameter are not properly neutralized, which allows a low-privileged remote attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the device.

This improper neutralization leads to the possibility of full system compromise.

Impact Analysis

Exploitation of this vulnerability can result in full system compromise of the affected Managed Ethernet Switch.

This means an attacker could gain control over the device, impacting its availability, integrity, and confidentiality.

Mitigation Strategies

To mitigate the CVE-2026-5416 vulnerability, it is recommended to update the firmware of TURCK's Managed Ethernet Switches to version 2.1.2.0 or later.
