Executive Summary

This vulnerability is a local privilege escalation issue in Palo Alto Networks Prisma® Browser on macOS. It allows a locally authenticated administrator who already has access to the macOS local filesystem to perform actions on the device with root privileges.

Essentially, it means that an administrator user on the affected system can exploit this flaw to gain the highest level of control (root access) on the device, potentially bypassing normal security restrictions.

Impact Analysis

The vulnerability can impact you by allowing an attacker with local administrator access to escalate their privileges to root level on a macOS device running Prisma® Browser. This could enable the attacker to perform any action on the device, including modifying system files, installing malicious software, or disrupting system operations.

Mitigation Strategies

To mitigate this vulnerability, Palo Alto Networks recommends applying the latest updates to Prisma Browser and Chromium components as provided in their security advisory.

The advisory addresses multiple vulnerabilities and includes fixes from Google's stable channel updates in June 2026, which resolve issues such as use-after-free, out-of-bounds reads/writes, type confusion, and others.

Applying these updates will reduce the risk of exploitation that could lead to remote code execution, data corruption, or denial of service.
