CWE ID Description
CWE-416 The product reuses or references memory after it has been freed. At some point afterward, the memory may be allocated again and saved in another pointer, while the original pointer references a location somewhere within the new allocation. Any operations using the original pointer are no longer valid because the memory "belongs" to the code that operates on the new pointer.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability occurs when the application opens a PDF file containing a damaged field tree. JavaScript triggers field traversal using this damaged tree, which causes the program to hold an invalid form object when accessing the field property path. This leads to the application eventually crashing due to reading an invalid pointer.

Impact Analysis

The impact of this vulnerability is that the affected application can crash unexpectedly when processing specially crafted PDF files. This can lead to denial of service, interrupting normal operations and potentially causing loss of data or availability.
