Description

The Kali Forms β€” Contact Form & Drag-and-Drop Builder plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting via 'digitalSignature' Field Value in all versions up to, and including, 2.4.18 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. The required form-submission nonce is publicly available on any page containing the form shortcode, making this exploitable by fully unauthenticated attackers without any precondition beyond the form being published.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability is specific to the Kali Forms WordPress plugin. To detect it, check if your WordPress site uses the Kali Forms plugin version 2.4.18 or lower. You can do this by inspecting the plugin files or using WordPress admin panel to view the installed plugin version.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could steal user sessions, redirect users to malicious sites, or perform actions on their behalf. Since it requires no authentication beyond a published form, any website using the vulnerable plugin version is at risk of compromise.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or modification, violating GDPR's data protection requirements or HIPAA's security rules. Organizations may face compliance penalties if exploited.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately update the Kali Forms plugin to the latest version if available. If no update is available, consider disabling or removing the plugin until a patch is released. Additionally, review any forms created with this plugin for suspicious content or scripts.
