Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle Java SE, GraalVM for JDK, and GraalVM Enterprise Edition. It allows an unauthenticated attacker to cause a partial denial of service (DOS) by sending malicious data via TLS to the affected components. The vulnerability does not require user interaction or authentication to exploit.

Detection Guidance

Detection involves checking the installed versions of Oracle Java SE, GraalVM for JDK, or GraalVM Enterprise Edition against the affected versions (11.0.31, 17.0.19, 21.0.11, 25.0.3, 26.0.1, etc.). Use commands like 'java -version' or 'gu -version' to verify versions.

Impact Analysis

The impact is limited to partial denial of service, meaning the affected Java applications may become unavailable or slow down. It does not lead to data breaches or unauthorized access to sensitive information.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability causes a partial denial of service (DOS) in affected Java SE and GraalVM products. While it does not directly impact data confidentiality or integrity, a DOS condition could disrupt services handling sensitive data, potentially violating availability requirements in GDPR, HIPAA, and other regulations that mandate timely access to personal or health information.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest patches or updates from Oracle to upgrade to a non-vulnerable version. Disable TLS services if not required or restrict network access to them until patched.
