Executive Summary

CVE-2026-47657 is a vulnerability in HumHub, an open-source enterprise social network. It allows any authenticated user to remove all members from any Space, regardless of their role or membership status. This occurs due to a missing authorization check in the Space member management controller.

Detection Guidance

Check HumHub version with: grep -r '"version"' /path/to/humhub/composer.json. If version is between 1.13.0 and 1.18.2, the system is vulnerable. Review logs for unusual Space member removal events or unauthorized access attempts.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability could allow unauthorized users to disrupt or delete entire communities within a HumHub instance. It may lead to data loss, compromised collaboration spaces, and potential reputational damage for organizations using the affected versions.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could potentially impact compliance with GDPR and HIPAA by allowing unauthorized users to remove members from any Space, which may lead to unauthorized data access or loss of access controls. Such actions could violate principles of data protection and access management required by these regulations.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade HumHub to version 1.18.3 or later immediately. No workarounds exist, so patching is required. Verify the upgrade was successful by checking the version again.
