Executive Summary

Adobe Premiere Pro has a Heap-based Buffer Overflow vulnerability that allows arbitrary code execution when a user opens a malicious file. This occurs due to improper memory handling in the software.

Detection Guidance

Since this is a Heap-based Buffer Overflow in Adobe Premiere Pro requiring user interaction, detection involves monitoring for suspicious file interactions or crashes during file processing. Check for unexpected crashes when opening .prproj or media files. Use process monitoring tools like Process Explorer or sysmon to track Premiere Pro's memory usage and detect abnormal allocations.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could allow attackers to run malicious code on your system, potentially leading to data theft, system damage, or unauthorized access. It requires user interaction to trigger.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or data breaches, which may violate GDPR or HIPAA compliance requirements. Organizations must address it to maintain data protection standards.

Mitigation Strategies
