CWE ID Description
CWE-416 The product reuses or references memory after it has been freed. At some point afterward, the memory may be allocated again and saved in another pointer, while the original pointer references a location somewhere within the new allocation. Any operations using the original pointer are no longer valid because the memory "belongs" to the code that operates on the new pointer.

Executive Summary

This vulnerability involves local attackers who have a connection to the X server (specifically xorg-server before version 21.2.24 and xwayland before version 24.1.13). They can exploit a Heap Use After Free issue caused by the CommonMakeCurrent() function pointing to memory that may have been reallocated.

Impact Analysis

Exploiting this vulnerability could lead to serious security impacts because it is a Heap Use After Free flaw, which can cause crashes or potentially allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code or escalate privileges on the affected system.
