Detection Guidance

To detect this vulnerability, check the version of n8n installed on your system. If it is below 2.10.0, the system is vulnerable. Use commands like 'n8n --version' or check package managers (e.g., 'npm list n8n' or 'apt list --installed | grep n8n').

Review workflows using the Guardrail node for unusual inputs or bypass attempts. Monitor logs for suspicious activity related to input validation failures.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows attackers to manipulate workflows by bypassing guardrail protections. This could lead to unauthorized actions, data corruption, or workflow disruption if exploited. Users should upgrade to version 2.10.0 or later to mitigate risks.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-56349 is an input validation flaw in n8n versions before 2.10.0 affecting the Guardrail node. Attackers can craft malicious inputs to bypass default guardrail instructions, compromising workflow integrity by circumventing security protections.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade n8n to version 2.10.0 or later immediately. This is the primary mitigation. If upgrading is not possible, restrict access to trusted users only and review workflows for guardrail bypasses.

Executive Summary

CVE-2026-56349 is an input validation flaw in n8n versions before 2.10.0 affecting the Guardrail node. Attackers can craft malicious inputs to bypass default guardrail instructions, compromising workflow integrity.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability allows attackers to bypass security controls in n8n workflows, potentially leading to unauthorized actions or data manipulation. Users of affected versions risk workflow integrity and security breaches.
