Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle MySQL Cluster (versions 8.0.0-8.0.47) affecting the Server: Optimizer component. It allows a high-privileged attacker with network access to cause a denial of service (DOS) by crashing or hanging the MySQL Cluster repeatedly.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability affects MySQL Cluster versions 8.0.0 to 8.0.47. To detect it, check your MySQL Cluster version using the command: mysql --version. If your version falls within the affected range, the system is vulnerable. No specific commands are provided for detection beyond version verification.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability could disrupt database operations by causing frequent crashes or hangs, leading to downtime and loss of availability for applications relying on MySQL Cluster.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability causes denial-of-service (DoS) conditions in MySQL Cluster, leading to system unavailability. For GDPR, this could impact data processing operations requiring availability. For HIPAA, it may disrupt access to protected health information systems.

Mitigation Strategies

Upgrade MySQL Cluster to a version later than 8.0.47 as soon as possible to address the vulnerability in the Server: Optimizer component.
