Executive Summary

This is a critical vulnerability in Oracle WebLogic Server versions 12.2.1.4.0, 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, and 15.1.1.0.0. It allows unauthenticated attackers to remotely compromise the server via T3 or IIOP protocols. Successful exploitation can lead to full server takeover.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this vulnerability requires checking for vulnerable Oracle WebLogic Server versions. Use commands like 'curl -v http://<target>:7001/console' or 'nmap -p 7001 <target> -sV' to identify WebLogic instances. Verify version details in responses or logs. Ensure T3/IIOP ports (default 7001, 7002) are monitored for unauthorized access.

Impact Analysis

If you use affected Oracle WebLogic Server versions, an attacker could gain complete control over your server. This may lead to data breaches, unauthorized access to sensitive information, or disruption of services.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or data breaches, which may violate GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health information privacy) requirements. Organizations must address it to maintain compliance.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately apply Oracle's security patches for affected versions. Disable T3/IIOP protocols if not required. Restrict network access to WebLogic ports using firewalls. Monitor logs for suspicious activity and consider upgrading to a non-vulnerable version.
