Executive Summary

This is a critical vulnerability in Oracle Coherence, a middleware product. It allows an unauthenticated attacker to remotely access and take over the system via network connections. The flaw affects versions 12.2.1.4.0 and later, enabling full compromise of the software.

Detection Guidance

Detection of CVE-2026-60216 requires checking for vulnerable versions of Oracle Coherence (12.2.1.4.0, 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, 15.1.1.0.0). Scan network ports associated with Oracle Coherence (default TCP ports) for unauthorized access attempts or unusual activity. Use tools like Nmap to identify running instances and verify patch levels.

Impact Analysis

If you use affected Oracle Coherence versions, an attacker could gain complete control over your system. This could lead to data theft, system manipulation, or service disruption. The high CVSS score indicates severe potential impact.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to compromise Oracle Coherence, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data breaches, or service disruption. Such impacts could violate GDPR's data protection requirements or HIPAA's safeguards for protected health information, depending on the affected system's use case.

Mitigation Strategies

Immediately apply the latest Oracle Coherence patches for affected versions (12.2.1.4.0, 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, 15.1.1.0.0). If patches are unavailable, restrict network access to TCP ports used by Oracle Coherence via firewall rules until patches are applied.
