Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle Coherence, a middleware product. It allows a low-privileged attacker with network access to take over the system by exploiting a flaw in the Core component. The attack requires network access via TCP and can result in full compromise of Oracle Coherence.

Detection Guidance

Detection requires checking for Oracle Coherence versions 12.2.1.4.0, 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, or 15.1.1.0.0. Use commands like 'java -jar coherence.jar -version' or check running processes for coherence-related services. Monitor network traffic on TCP ports commonly used by Coherence (default 7574, 8088, or custom ports).

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability can lead to complete takeover of Oracle Coherence, potentially exposing sensitive data, disrupting services, or allowing further attacks within the affected network. The high CVSS score indicates significant impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized access or data breaches, which may violate compliance requirements under GDPR, HIPAA, or other regulations. Organizations using affected Oracle Coherence versions must address this to maintain regulatory compliance.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest Oracle Coherence patches or updates for affected versions (12.2.1.4.0, 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, 15.1.1.0.0) as soon as possible to prevent potential takeover.
