Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle Coherence, a middleware product. It allows a low-privileged attacker with network access to cause a denial of service (DOS) by crashing or hanging the system. The attack requires network access via TCP and does not need user interaction.

Detection Guidance

Detection of CVE-2026-60243 requires checking for Oracle Coherence versions 12.2.1.4.0, 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, or 15.1.1.0.0. Verify installed versions using Oracle tools or package managers. Monitor network traffic for unusual TCP connections targeting Oracle Coherence ports. Check system logs for repeated crashes or hangs in Oracle Coherence processes.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, this vulnerability can disrupt Oracle Coherence services, leading to downtime and loss of availability for applications relying on it. This may affect business operations, data processing, and user access to services.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability causes denial-of-service (DoS) conditions in Oracle Coherence, leading to system unavailability. Such disruptions may violate compliance requirements under GDPR (availability of personal data) and HIPAA (access to protected health information), depending on system usage.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest security patches from Oracle for affected Oracle Coherence versions (12.2.1.4.0, 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, 15.1.1.0.0). If patches are unavailable, consider isolating the vulnerable component from network access or disabling it until updates are applied.
