Executive Summary

This is a critical vulnerability in Oracle Coherence, a middleware product. It allows an unauthenticated attacker to remotely take over the system via network access. The flaw affects versions 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, and 15.1.1.0.0.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability affects Oracle Coherence versions 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, and 15.1.1.0.0. Detection involves checking for these versions and exposed TCP ports. Use commands like 'netstat -tuln | grep <port>' to check for open ports or 'curl -v http://<host>:<port>' to test connectivity. Ensure network segmentation and firewall rules are in place to restrict access.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to fully compromise Oracle Coherence, leading to loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the system. This could result in data breaches, unauthorized access, or system downtime.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to compromise Oracle Coherence, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data breaches, or system takeover. Such impacts could violate GDPR by exposing personal data or HIPAA by compromising protected health information.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest security patches from Oracle for affected versions of Oracle Coherence (14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, 15.1.1.0.0). If patches are unavailable, consider isolating the system from untrusted networks or disabling the service until updates are applied.
