Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle Coherence, a middleware product. It allows an unauthenticated attacker with network access to exploit it via TCP and potentially gain unauthorized access to critical data or all accessible data in Oracle Coherence.

Detection Guidance

The provided CVE data does not include specific detection methods or commands for identifying this vulnerability on a network or system. General approaches would involve checking Oracle Coherence versions against the affected releases (14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, 15.1.1.0.0) and monitoring for unauthorized network access via TCP to the service.

Impact Analysis

If you use Oracle Coherence versions 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, or 15.1.1.0.0, an attacker could exploit this to access sensitive data stored or processed by the system without authentication.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access, violating GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health data privacy) by exposing personal or sensitive information, potentially resulting in legal penalties or compliance failures.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest security patches from Oracle for Oracle Coherence versions 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, and 15.1.1.0.0. If patches are unavailable, consider isolating affected systems from untrusted networks or disabling the TCP interface if not required.
