Executive Summary

This is a critical vulnerability in Oracle Coherence, a middleware product. It allows an unauthenticated attacker to remotely access and take over the system via network TCP connections. The flaw affects versions 12.2.1.4.0 through 15.1.1.0.0 and has a CVSS score of 9.8, indicating severe impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

Detection Guidance

Detection of CVE-2026-60287 requires checking for vulnerable versions of Oracle Coherence (12.2.1.4.0, 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, 15.1.1.0.0). Inspect installed software versions and network services listening on TCP ports. Use commands like 'netstat -tuln' or 'ss -tuln' to identify exposed Oracle Coherence ports (default 7574, 8080, etc.). Verify process names and version details via 'ps aux | grep coherence' or 'systemctl list-units --type=service'.

Impact Analysis

If you use an affected Oracle Coherence version, an attacker could gain full control of your system. This could lead to data breaches, unauthorized modifications, or system downtime. The high CVSS score suggests widespread potential for severe damage.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to compromise Oracle Coherence, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data breaches, or system takeover. Such impacts could violate GDPR (data protection), HIPAA (health data security), and other regulations requiring strong access controls and data integrity.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest security patches from Oracle for affected versions of Oracle Coherence immediately. Isolate vulnerable systems from untrusted networks and restrict TCP access to the product. Monitor network traffic for unusual activity targeting Oracle Coherence ports.
