Executive Summary

This is a critical vulnerability in Oracle Coherence, a middleware product. It allows an unauthenticated attacker to remotely access and take over the system via network TCP connections. The flaw affects versions 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, and 15.1.1.0.0.

Detection Guidance

Detecting this vulnerability requires checking for Oracle Coherence versions 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0, or 15.1.1.0.0. Use commands like 'java -jar coherence.jar -version' or check installed packages via 'rpm -qa | grep coherence' or 'dpkg -l | grep coherence' depending on your OS.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to fully compromise Oracle Coherence, leading to loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the system. This could result in data breaches, unauthorized access, or system downtime.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to compromise Oracle Coherence, potentially leading to unauthorized access, data breaches, or system takeover. Such impacts could violate GDPR by exposing personal data or HIPAA by compromising protected health information, depending on the data processed by the affected system.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest Oracle Coherence patch immediately. Isolate affected systems from untrusted networks. Disable unnecessary network services on Coherence ports. Monitor for unusual TCP traffic patterns.
