Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle Unified Directory (OUD) versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0. It allows a low-privileged attacker with network access via LDAP to compromise the OUD system. Successful exploitation can lead to unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all OUD-accessible data, as well as unauthorized modifications to some data.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability affects Oracle Unified Directory versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0. Detection involves checking for vulnerable versions and monitoring LDAP access patterns. Use commands like 'ldapsearch -H ldap://<host>:<port> -x -s base' to query directory services. Verify installed versions with 'dpkg -l | grep oracle-unified-directory' on Debian-based systems or 'rpm -qa | grep oracle-unified-directory' on RPM-based systems.

Impact Analysis

If you use Oracle Unified Directory versions 12.2.1.4.0 or 14.1.2.1.0, an attacker could gain unauthorized access to sensitive data or modify data without permission. This could lead to data breaches, loss of confidentiality, or integrity issues in your systems.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or modification, which may violate GDPR (data protection) or HIPAA (health data privacy) requirements. Non-compliance risks include fines, legal penalties, and reputational damage due to potential data breaches.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest security patches from Oracle for Oracle Unified Directory versions 12.2.1.4.0 and 14.1.2.1.0. Restrict network access to LDAP ports and limit privileges for LDAP users to reduce attack surface.
