Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle APEX versions 24.1, 24.2, and 26.1. It allows a low-privileged attacker with system access to exploit the installation component and gain unauthorized access to critical data or all data accessible by Oracle APEX. The attack requires local access to the system where Oracle APEX runs.

Detection Guidance

Detection requires checking Oracle APEX version installed. Compare installed version against affected versions (24.1, 24.2, 26.1). Use SQL queries in APEX to verify version or check application server logs for APEX components. No specific commands provided in context.

Impact Analysis

If you use Oracle APEX versions 24.1, 24.2, or 26.1, an attacker with local system access could steal sensitive data or gain full access to all data managed by Oracle APEX. This could lead to data breaches, unauthorized modifications, or loss of confidential information.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access, which may violate GDPR (data protection) and HIPAA (health data privacy) requirements. Organizations using affected Oracle APEX versions may face compliance violations, legal penalties, or reputational damage if data is compromised.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest Oracle APEX patches for versions 24.1, 24.2, and 26.1 to address the vulnerability. Restrict user privileges to minimize access to critical data. Monitor logs for suspicious activity related to Oracle APEX access.
