Executive Summary

This is a vulnerability in Oracle Service Contracts within Oracle E-Business Suite. It affects versions 12.2.3 to 12.2.15. The issue allows a high-privileged attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise the system. Exploitation requires human interaction from someone other than the attacker.

Detection Guidance

Detection requires monitoring Oracle E-Business Suite logs for unauthorized access attempts to the Oracle Service Contracts component. Check HTTP traffic logs for unusual requests targeting the affected versions (12.2.3-12.2.15).

Commands may include reviewing Oracle application logs (e.g., Apache or Oracle HTTP Server logs) for suspicious activity or using Oracle's built-in auditing tools to track data modifications in the Service Contracts module.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could exploit this to create, delete, or modify critical data in Oracle Service Contracts. They could also gain unauthorized access to sensitive data, potentially leading to data breaches or loss of data integrity.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could lead to unauthorized data access or modification, which may violate GDPR (data protection) or HIPAA (health data privacy) requirements. Compliance could be compromised if sensitive data is exposed or altered.

Mitigation Strategies

Apply the latest Oracle Critical Patch Update (CPU) for Oracle E-Business Suite to address the vulnerability. Ensure all users with access to Oracle Service Contracts follow least-privilege principles and avoid sharing high-privilege accounts.

Restrict network access to the Oracle Service Contracts component via HTTP, and implement additional authentication measures such as multi-factor authentication for administrative access.
