Description

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: firmware: arm_ffa: Bound PARTITION_INFO_GET_REGS copies The register-based PARTITION_INFO_GET path trusted the firmware-provided indices when copying partition descriptors into the caller buffer. Reject inconsistent counts or index progressions so the copy loop cannot write past the allocated array. (fixed cur_idx when exactly one descriptor in the first fragment)

Executive Summary

This vulnerability in the Linux kernel involves the firmware: arm_ffa component. The issue occurs in the PARTITION_INFO_GET_REGS path where the system trusted firmware-provided indices when copying partition descriptors into a caller's buffer. This could allow the copy loop to write past the allocated array if the firmware provides inconsistent counts or index progressions.

Impact Analysis

This vulnerability could lead to memory corruption or arbitrary code execution if exploited. An attacker with access to the affected system could potentially trigger the flaw to overwrite memory outside the intended buffer, causing system instability or enabling further attacks.

Mitigation Strategies

Update the Linux kernel to the latest patched version to resolve the firmware: arm_ffa PARTITION_INFO_GET_REGS vulnerability. Monitor vendor advisories for kernel updates.
