Executive Summary

This is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting multiple Apple operating systems. An attacker on the same local network could exploit it to cause system crashes or unresponsiveness by triggering memory handling issues.

Detection Guidance

This vulnerability is a denial-of-service issue affecting multiple Apple operating systems. Detection primarily involves checking system versions against the patched releases. Use system update commands like 'softwareupdate --list' on macOS or 'Settings > General > Software Update' on iOS/iPadOS to verify if your system is updated to the fixed versions (iOS 26.6, macOS Sequoia 15.7.8, etc.). Network detection may require monitoring for unusual traffic patterns or crashes on local network devices.

Impact Analysis

If exploited, it could make your device slow, unresponsive, or completely crash. This would disrupt normal use until the device is restarted. Local network access is required for the attack.

Compliance Impact

The vulnerability allows an attacker on the local network to cause a denial-of-service, which could disrupt services handling sensitive data. This may impact compliance with standards like GDPR or HIPAA by compromising availability of systems processing personal or health information.

Mitigation Strategies

Update affected devices to the latest versions: iOS 26.6, iPadOS 26.6, macOS Sequoia 15.7.8, macOS Sonoma 14.8.8, macOS Tahoe 26.6, tvOS 26.6, visionOS 26.6, or watchOS 26.6.
