Executive Summary

This vulnerability in the Convert Forms Joomla extension allows unauthenticated users to list form submissions without permission due to missing access control in the front-end Submissions view.

Detection Guidance

Check Joomla sites using Convert Forms for unauthorized access to submission listings. Inspect server logs for unusual requests to /administrator/index.php?option=com_convertforms&view=submissions. Use Joomla admin panel to verify if submissions are visible without authentication.

Impact Analysis

An attacker could access sensitive form data, including user submissions, without authentication. This may lead to data leaks, privacy violations, or unauthorized access to personal information collected through forms.

Compliance Impact

This vulnerability could violate GDPR by exposing personal data without consent and HIPAA by compromising protected health information if forms collect such data. Organizations may face fines or legal penalties for non-compliance.

Mitigation Strategies

Update Convert Forms to the latest version immediately. Review server logs for past unauthorized access. Restrict access to the submissions view in Joomla backend. Consider temporarily disabling the extension if no update is available.
